El pasado 14 de enero se celebró la edición número 69 de los Globos de Oro. Después del percance ocurrido el año pasado con Ricky Gervais, parece que la Asociación de la Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood no escarmienta, ya que este año han vuelto a repetir con el conflictivo maestro de ceremonias; parece que gusta un buen plato de humor british. Aunque Gervais tenía unas cuantas pautas escritas en un papel por parte de la Asociación, hizo caso omiso de dichas instrucciones y aplicó su mejor baza irónica y burlesca en la gala.
